  • About 7 hours of your own time over the 90 days, by our estimate

Before you start

Who to invite, and what to have ready.

Who to invite

All the employees the survey is about, not a sample. Results only show for groups with at least 5 responses, so invite whole teams or groups rather than a handful of people.

What to have ready
  • Your employee list: connect your HR system, or upload a CSV with each person's email, name, department, business unit, manager's email, and hire date.
  • One owner for the program, plus a colleague invited as a second admin, so it never depends on one person.
  • A short note to your employees saying why you're asking and when they'll hear what changes.

Week 1

Your first survey live on day one.

  1. Day 1
    Set up your workspace

Check out, set up your workspace, and invite a colleague as a second admin.

    Your time: about 15 minutes
  2. Day 1
    Bring in your employees

Upload your list or connect your system. Check that departments and managers look right, since results are grouped by them.

    Your time: about 45 minutes
  3. Day 1
    Walk the survey

Open the playbook and take the survey yourself. It starts as a draft, so change any wording that doesn't fit.

    Your time: about 30 minutes
  4. Day 1
    Announce and launch

Send your note to your employees, turn on reminders (up to two, a few days apart), and launch. Invitations start going out by email or text right away, and the survey stays open 14 days unless you change it.

    Your time: about 30 minutes
  5. Days 2–7
    Watch responses come in

Check the response rate by group, and ask leaders of groups close to 5 responses to encourage their teams.

    Your time: about 30 minutes

The 90 days

From first answers to a decision.

Act and Lift, where improvements get owners and their results are checked: included in Business and Enterprise; Act and Lift Essentials add-on on Pro. On other plans, keep the owners and dates in your own tracker.

  1. Day 1
    First survey live

Invitations are out and responses are coming in.

  2. About day 21
    Read what to fix first

The survey has closed, and Rank shows the ranked list of what matters most and how it scores.

    Your time: about 1 hour
  3. Day 30
    Choose what to act on

Use Drivers to see what each priority is linked to, choose a few improvements, give each one an owner, and tell the people who answered what will change.

    Your time: about 2 hours
  4. Day 75
    Pilot review

A conversation with us about what you learned, what changed, and whether to continue.

    Your time: about 30 minutes
  5. Day 90
    Plan the next round

Schedule the next survey. Lift's first read comes with it: Lift reads an improvement against a survey that closes six weeks to 90 days after its work started.

    Your time: about 30 minutes
  6. Before day 91
    Continue or cancel

Full price starts with the fourth monthly invoice. Continue, or cancel before day 91.

Want Lift's first read before you decide? Launch the next survey around day 75, at your pilot review. Improvements started on day 30 will have run six weeks, the survey closes about day 89, and Lift shows whether your Net Ranx score improved, held steady or declined. A change has to be more than 2 points to count.
